Meet the team behind OnTrack Greenville

Michelle Shain, Interim Executive Director

Michelle oversees the strategic direction and plan for OnTrack Greenville. 

Prior to joining United Way, Shain served as interim president and CEO of The Children’s Museum of the Upstate. She continues to be a community volunteer there, and with the Junior League of Greenville as a sustaining advisor to the Community Impact Vice President. She is currently serving on the statewide board of The SC Arts Foundation, and also works as a consultant for Dorothy Shain Fine Art. 

Previously, Shain worked for Greenville Health System, now Prisma Health, where she served as Director of Philanthropy for Neurology, Gerontology and Academics. She’s also operated as the Director of Community Relations for Furman University, Executive Director of Greenville County First Steps, and Vice President of the Greenville Community Foundation. She contributed as the Interim President of the Community Foundation of Greenville, as well as the Interim Executive Director of A Child’s Haven and the YWCA.

Shain served as an At-Large member of Greenville City Council from 1999-2007 where she served as the chair of Economic Development committee. She is the recipient of the Chamber’s Athena Leadership Award, Leadership Greenville Forum’s Platinum Award, and Sustainer of the Year award from the Junior League of Greenville. She’s also received the YWCA Jimmy McQueen Society President’s Award, the Order of the Jessamine Award, and the Church and Community Relations Award. 

She is a past president of the Junior League of Greenville, Greenville First Steps, the YWCA, Success by Six, Greenville’s Child and Partnership for Families. Additionally, she has served on the boards of Greenville Women Giving, The Urban League of Greenville, and The Institute for Child Success. Michelle just finished serving on the board of The Conservation Voters of SC. 

Shain received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from the University of Tennessee, and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. She is a Leadership Greenville Class 10 graduate and a member of the inaugural class of the Riley Institute’s Diversity Leadership Institute.


IMG_0340.jpgGina Bridges, Family Support Specialist

As Family Support Specialist, Bridges serves as a bilingual liaison and build relationships between families, students and participating OnTrack schools, including Carolina High School & Academy, and Berea Middle School, Lakeview Middle School, Tanglewood Middle School and Greenville Early College. 

Before joining OnTrack, Bridges managed volunteer coordination and provision of direct human services to immigrants and refugees seeking self-sufficiency at FIRN, Inc., based in Columbia, Md. She also served as program coordinator with FASTStart at the Pennsylvania State University’s Paul Robeson Cultural Center, and as a teacher and vocational guidance counselor at a men’s medium security state correctional institution. She holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Spanish from Lock Haven University.


IMG_0328.jpgCindy McGrath, Programs and Innovations Manager

As OnTrack’s Programs and Innovations Manager, McGrath oversees teacher support, strategic partnerships and access to community support for schools, data-informed strategies and Hispanic community outreach. She also helps deliver professional development for teachers and school staff surrounding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), compassionate classroom discipline, and trauma-informed practices to help address barriers to students’ success. 

Prior to her new role, McGrath served as a volunteer engagement manager and product development manager for United Way. She is also a seasoned middle school educator with experience working with under-served and justice-involved youth in South Florida, earning Teacher of the Year from the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University in Leadership Studies, and is also a Florida Highly Qualified Educator.
